Community Honors Coach Hurd
The Walter Johnson community gathered to celebrate the career and impact of Coach Larry Hurd Jr., who will officially retire October 1 after 29 years with Montgomery County Public Schools.
Coaching Legacy and Impact
Hurd spent 20 years as a head football coach, compiling 132 wins and helping more than 150 student-athletes pursue opportunities at the next level. He also spent the last four years leading Walter Johnson Athletics.
Signed Helmet Presentation
During the celebration, student-athletes and coaches signed a football helmet that was presented to Hurd as a parting gift.
