Your home for Montgomery County sports
Capital Sideline covers the games, athletes, and stories of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the wider DMV. High school sports are our heartbeat, MCPS especially, but the sideline stretches to private schools, youth leagues, college programs, semi-pro clubs, and the pros in D.C.
What we cover
Football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, wrestling, soccer, swimming, hockey, track and more, from MCPS and the private schools to youth leagues on Saturday mornings. We follow local athletes onto bigger stages too: college programs including the Maryland Terrapins, and the region’s professional teams: the Washington Capitals, Washington Commanders, Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics, Washington Spirit, D.C. United, and the D.C. Defenders.

Rankings and projections
Our rankings and projections run on a simulation engine that replays entire seasons thousands of times to project wins, playoff odds, and the matchups worth circling. It debuted with MCPS football, which we simulated 10,000 times before the season, and it’s built to expand to more sports. Rankings update weekly while the games are being played.
